Budget Talks: Water, Sewer and Sanitation Rates
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) On Monday, the Twin Falls City Council held their weekly meeting.
And the main item on the agenda... the 2014 fiscal year budget.
On Monday, The city council discussed the three main Enterprise Funds for next year's budget.
Those three include the Water, Sewer and Sanitation funds.
On a whole, the water and sewer funds will see a slight increase of about 2%.
With the sanitation fee seeing even more an increase at about 2.79 %.
Most of that is due to cost of business increases.
We spoke with City Manager Travis Rothweiler, and asked him how these slight increases will impact the citizens of Twin Falls.
"The largest increase that citizens will see this year is going to be on the sewer bill. Overall were trying to make sure that the rates that we're assessing for the services really are representative of the economy that we have and still being able to be afforded by residents."
Said, Twin Falls City Manager Travis Rowthweiler.
The sewer increase is due to the waste water bond approved by voters just this last May.
Next week the council will finish up the budget talks and will then move into a public comment period.
There will be two public hearings scheduled on the budget.
Those two meeting will be held on August 5th and again on August 19th.
