Burley man arrested for internet enticement

By KMVT News Staff

Burley, Idaho (KMVT) - Cassia County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a Burley resident; Michael Scott Brinkerhoff, 42, is charged with enticing children over the internet, and sexual abuse of a minor child under the age of 16.

According to Sheriff Randy Kidd, the arrest followed a lengthy investigation based on a tip from the parents of the alleged victim.

Kidd says he believes there is a good chance that more victims will be located, and more charges filed against Brinkerhoff.

He's asking anyone who has had e-mail or internet conversations with a person representing themselves as either 'Mark Mills' or 'Jeff Maclay,' to please contact Detective Jay Heward at 878-9323.

In other court news, the trial for a man charged with felony sex-related crimes should begin as scheduled a week from Tuesday.

Back in March, Nicolas Brent Dudley, 36, of Burley was charged with four counts of sexual battery of a minor, and four more counts of felony statutory rape.

Police say the mother of the victim, a 17 year old girl, told detectives that Dudley and another adult male were having sex with her daughter.

Dudley could face life in prison and a 50 thousand dollar fine for each of the eight charges; his trial is expected to begin at 9 am next Tuesday, September 7th.
