Business Leaders See Chick-fil-A 'Leadercast'
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) When you're taking care of business, it's easy to get out of synch with all the basic things you need to do. Today's Chick-fil-A "Leadercast" conference was a reminder that it takes simplicity to cut through all the clutter.
200 local business leaders took part in the conference today. This one day leadership conference was broadcast live all across the nation.
Pastor Jeremy Fort of Valley Christian Church says, "Our hope is that perhaps someone will walk away with a little nugget, or a little piece of information that might change the course of how they do business. Might grow their business a little bit, that might create some new positions and opportunities in town. So that's why we're doing it."
Conference speakers included authors Andy Stanley and John Maxwell, leadership consultant Dr. Henry Cloud, and former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice. Some of the local opportunities created might help find jobs for people with disabilities.
Karee Connor, whose son has autism, says, "You worry about their future. There's a lot of amazing people here that can make a wonderful future for these people, and really help the moms and dads that are constantly worried about them."
The proceeds from the conference added up to between one thousand and three thousand dollars to help people with disabilities in this community. Fort pointed out if you missed this year's Leadercast, they're already planning to hold next's event on May 9th. And they'll make sure to hold it in a bigger facility so more people can come.
Fort says, "The truth is everybody has to deal with the same issues. Trying to make things simple is just as difficult for the person who has 1,000 employees as it is for a single mom trying to manage her day, her kids, and her family."
