CSI Budget Approved: Tuition And Fees Increase

By Joey Martin

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) With the fall semester set to get underway over at the College of Southern Idaho...

The CSI board of trustees met this afternoon to approve the fiscal year 2015 budget.

From tuition and fees... to athletics and education, the 2015 budget is dealing with an array of changing numbers.

Some areas saw declines while others saw the opposite.

One of the biggest changes this year has to do with tuition and fees.

Due to declining numbers, the board approved a 5 dollar per credit increase.

From $110 last year, to $115 per credit this year.

"We're still the lowest in the state by $10 at the least... and we plan to stay that way. It's a last resort from the board. And the board is very reluctant to raise tuition and fees but there are some times and some circumstances that you have to do that along with reallocating ... along with making some other cuts in other areas."
Said CSI Vice President of Admissions, Mike Mason

Also at the meeting, CSI’s 50 year anniversary was discussed.

CSI first opened their doors back in 1965, and now… 50 years later, the college is looking to celebrate.

The board was asked to consider a marking campaign that will celebrate the college.

And it's longevity in the community.
