CSI Prepping To Construct New Building

By Jay Michaels

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Once again, dirt is flying on the College of Southern Idaho campus in Twin Falls.

Workers driving construction equipment are preparing the ground for a new building there. It's called the Applied Technology and Innovation Center, or ATIC for short. It will provide a permanent home for five CSI educational programs.

CSI Spokesman Doug Maughan says, "They are Environmental Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Drafting, Heating and Air Conditioning, and Wind Energy. To a greater or lesser extent, they're kind of scattered here and there."

Construction should take just over a year, and is expected to be complete in time for classes beginning fall 2014. The building will be very energy efficient, and CSI is hoping to get the same LEED rating that the Health Sciences building got.
