Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The City of Twin Falls is offering some relief for those of you who've been feeling cooped up this winter.

They don't get a lot of time outside because you know you worry about little freezing fingers, so it's nice to get out especially in the greenhouse," said Christopher Reid, enjoying Cabin Fever Day.

With no relief from Mother Nature in sight, Christopher Reid and his family are taking advantage of Cabin Fever Day.

"We have five kids under the age of five, so it's nice to get out of the house sometimes. Let them run," said Reid.

The city teams up with local businesses each year as a way for families to enjoy a variety of activities free of charge.

"The kids the parents get to actually do a couple of projects, hands–on projects, where they're making planters to take home with them," said Dave Kiesig, Horticulture Professor, College of Southern Idaho.

The Reids are just one of the families learning how to plant flowers in the winter.

For them, it's becoming an annual tradition.

"Last year we came here and they had a really good time. They really enjoyed planting, getting out, playing with dirt. It's also very warm in here so they enjoyed that," said Reid.

Across town, one local girl spent the day with nearly a dozen friends at the city pool.

"Everybody is having a good time. We're having a birthday party," said Becky Lammers, enjoying Cabin Fever Day.

The girls had four hours of open swim time to celebrate and enjoy the summertime warmth.

"It happened to be Cabin Fever Day, so we all got in for free," said Lammers.

But, the question remains, did they have a good time?

"YES!!!!"

A true testament to the day's success.

There were 19 free activities people could participate in...

Everything from dance, art and self-defense classes to bowling and rock climbing to name a few.
