Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) A Twin Falls student is making a name for himself in the Boys and Girls Club.
The Canyon Ridge senior just earned the highest honor a member can receive in the Gem State.
Wreny Blick gave this speech at the Boys and Girls Club of Magic Valley Youth of the Year Night.
He won, in turn, moving onto to the state competition.
Champion, once again, earning the Idaho State Youth of the Year.
But life hasn't always been this easy.
"Growing up, I really struggled in school, just didn't really click with any of the kids, so I really struggled going to school and with my peers. My family kind pushed into the group. I really struggled because I had to deal with it at home, not only at school, and so I really didn't have a whole lot of people to talk to growing up," Blick explains.
Blick found a place where he belonged in the Boys and Girls Club.
"The Boys and Girls Club showed that to me. It allowed me to develop some friendships, pushed me to better myself, pushed away from the negativity in my life," he says.
He became a leader at Canyon Ridge, being the student body treasurer, a participant in HOSA, Key Club, FCCLA and numerous sports.
A role model to others looking to achieve a similar dream.
Blick plans to attend the University of Idaho with a major in microbiology and an ag minor.
