UPDATE: Car Discovered In Canal

Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The Jerome County Sheriff's Office is still trying to figure out how a car ended up in a canal.

Two men on dirt bikes found the car Friday evening in rural Jerome County.

Sheriff's deputies were able to locate the car by using grid coordinates from one of the biker's cell phones.

Authorities discovered the car at approximately 400 West, 900 North.

Divers searched the car, but found no one inside.

The owner of the car has reportedly contacted the sheriff's office, but the details of how the car ended up there is still under investigation.


FRIDAY: A couple of dirt bikers discovered a car submerged in a canal in northern Jerome County Saturday evening and immediately alerted authorities.

Through the GPS system on the biker's cell phone, law enforcement was able to find the men and the car.

Divers searched the car, but didn't find any occupants. Sheriff Doug McFall tells us the car was vandalized and abandoned.

The incident happened at approximately 400 West, 900 on BLM land.
