Carey Schools' Get Much Needed Side Improvements

Carey, Idaho (KMVT-TV) - One school here in the Magic Valley is getting a much need facelift this summer… Just in time for the school year to start.

Thanks in part to a Plant Facility Levy passed a few years ago; the Carey School District was able to upgrade a few amenities around both the high school and elementary school.

They are calling these projects "Side Improvements".

A few of them include better irrigation, increased lighting, additional parking lots, better curbs and gutters and even covered walkways between buildings with heated sidewalks.

“The Main thing they are doing is safety. We wanted to separate the bus route and the parent drop off. And now so those two will be separate, now so they have different places they can drop off.” Said Carey Principal John Peck.

The 2013 Carey School year is scheduled to start the day after Labor Day on August 4th.

But the entire project won't be completed until October 15th.

But for the school's football fans… Principal John Peck says, the football field's north–end parking lot will be open and complete by the Panthers first game on August 31st.
