Your health Idaho is in the process of transitioning off the government's healthcare.gov website to a fully functioning state–based exchange.
Since March of 2013, Your Health Idaho has been a state based exchange.
However, the Gem State utilized the federal government's application process.
Now, two technology vendors have been selected, completing the last piece of the puzzle for Your Health Idaho to function on its own.
Director of Communications with Your Health Idaho, Jody Olson, notes, “we will have our own technology infrastructure in place so we will not be reliant on the federal government for information or the application process. We will have an Idaho based solution in Idaho run by Idahoans so we will have more control over that.”
The deadline for open enrollment is March 31st, but health officials say now is the time to act.
Olson adds, "the process can sometimes take 24, 48, 72 hour cycles to get everything taken care of. If you wait until March 31st you may not get your enrollment taken care of."
The South Central Public Health District agrees, seeing an influx of people enrolling in the recent months.
Joymae Stone with the South Central Public Health District notes, "The deadline is fast approaching...we're starting to see people just walk into the office and not call and want to be enrolled."
