Changes Happening At The Cassia County Sheriff's Office

Burley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Cassia County Sheriff Jay Heward is in his fourth month of his position since winning the November sheriff's race.

Busy at work Sheriff Jay Heward is nailing down new county programs.

"I've been busy getting my community policing program launched and off the ground and we've started that, it's working out so far so good” said Sheriff Jay Heward, Cassia County.

The community policing program brings better interaction between law enforcement and the citizens.

The purpose is to identify problems in different neighborhoods.

Another new change at the sheriff's office, the community can now walk in and voice concerns.

"If anyone wants to talk to the Sheriff I'm available and my doors is open and come in and talk to me, I'm open” said Heward.

Heward says, he hasn't run into any challenges quite yet, but still has many days ahead on the job.

"I'm excited and it's been fun and I'm looking forward to keep going” said Heward.

A public official excited about the future and open to changes.
