Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT) - A cigarette butt is believed to be the cause of the blaze that burned over 588 acres, in-and-along, the Snake River Canyon.

According to BLM spokesman Brock Astle, containment was achieved at around 11 last night.

Damage from the fire was low, factoring in that the blaze was uncomfortably close to residential neighborhoods, and farm land.

Most damage occurred in the brand-new Auger Falls Park - which opened back in April.

The BLM is urging citizens to take efforts that will minimize fire starts.

These activities include: maintaining vehicles and trailers, having campfire in designated areas, and making sure cigarette are disposed of properly.
