City Council Approves Site For New Public Works Building

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Earlier this week the Twin Falls City Council approved a site for a new Public Works building.

The vacant Sun Valley Stages building will be the new home of the Public Works Department.

According to city spokesman Josh Palmer, the city mainly chose the building because of cost and size.

The building's price came in at $500,000, which is below assessed value and the size will be able to handle the water and wastewater trucks.

"They will make some modifications to the building, mostly through the heating and air condition units. We need to have heating because during the winter, we'll be housing some of the trucks that scrape the ice from the roads and things like that. Also they'll be renovating the office areas because they will be bringing several different employees into this building," adds Palmer.

They're supposed to close on the deal this week. Palmer expects renovations could take up to six months. The funds for the building were set aside in the Fiscal Year 2013 Budget.
