City Of Burley Set To Get New Rec Center Underway

By Joey Martin

Burley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) This Thursday, the Oregon Trail Recreation District held a ground breaking ceremony for their new million dollar Rec Center.

For years, the Rec District has been working in close cooperation with the Burley School District for their scheduling needs.

Because of that, and the ever growing number of young athletes in the area, the city and the recreation district felt there was a need for a building of their own.

This Thursday that need was made a reality as members from the city and Rec District gathered and broke ground on the new 21,000 square foot facility.

“The center will be right here on ground that’s been donated by the city of Burley. Its goanna consist of two full sized basketball courts and then some are for restrooms, concessions and a meeting room.”
Said Scott Horsley, President of the Oregon Trail Recreation District.

The new center will be located next to the city pool on Parke Avenue in Burley.

Construction will begin as soon and possible… with an end completion date set for sometime in November of this year.
