City Of Twin Falls Offers Tax Calculator To Show Where The Money Goes
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Are you a Twin Falls city resident and ever wonder just how much of your tax dollars were actually going to pay the city bills? Now, the city of Twin Falls have released a online calculator. Homeowners are encouraged to use a tax calculator to learn just how much they pay to the City.
The calculator will also show the net change in property tax paid to the City from 2012 to 2013. The property tax calculator will only show the amount that homeowners pay to the City of Twin Falls. The calculator does not include taxes paid to county, school districts or other taxing districts. The calculator is only applicable to owner-occupied homes eligible for the homeowners exemption. Under state code, all other types of property, such as rental homes, commercial property and farm land, are taxed differently.
When users click on the link, it will download the calculator to the user’s computer. No information is entered into the City’s website. This is done to ensure the privacy of the user.
“Citizens have a right to know how their government is spending their money,” said Twin Falls City Manager Travis Rothweiler. “This tool, and future programs that will be available on the City’s website, will
help citizens better understand how we apply tax dollars to offset the cost of providing services.”
