The City of Sun Valley Discusses Comprehensive Plan
Sun Valley, Idaho - ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - The City of Sun Valley had its 2014 Comprehensive Plan update today at Carol’s Dollar Mountain Lodge. The town hall style meeting welcomed public feedback on the plan.
The comprehensive plan is not zoning. It is the collective vision of the community, used as a guide or decision making tool. The plan addresses the primary concerns of the Sun Valley citizens. Topics include hillside open space corridors, scenic corridors, and wildlife considerations.
A point of tension? The open space in the area referred to as “the gateway,” which is the separation between Ketchum and Sun Valley. It is privately owned by Sun Valley Company.
“Recommendations for the Sun Valley Company in the comprehensive plans on the use of open space, what we call the gateway corridor. There are a number of citizens that would like to see that stay open in perpetuity, perhaps it will. But it’s private property of the Sun Valley Company. And so they have to be considered in what they use,” said Dewayne Briscoe, Mayor of Sun Valley.
The next public meeting will be in late September, when the council starts its deliberation of the comprehensive plan.
