Students packed into classrooms at Raft River Elementary School
MALTA, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Overcrowding is a major issue at Raft River Elementary School.
Principal Eric Boden says the issue really started five years ago. At the time, 170 students attended the elementary school, now there are 235. Boden says if they split one of the classes, they would be out of room. "The biggest issue is probably just the teachers getting around to the students. Even when you have 36 kids in your class you just get done teaching a math concept, it's really hard to get to all of them," says Boden. "We have 33 kids in there and they are pretty cramped. We do the normal things, reading, writing, spelling, language arts, they work really well together," says Hailie Boden, a second grade teacher. Principal Boden would like to see at least one more teacher at the school. Comments ( |
