A county–wide committee is touring school facilities in the area and seeing what improvements can be made.

The group looked at schools in Delco and Malta last week.
This week, they visited Oakley and Burley schools.

As Cassia County schools communications officer Debbie Critchfield explains, the committee came about from a parent's request.

She explains, "Last month a community member representing both Oakley and Malta came to the school board presenting a letter and a plan asking them to address formally some of the issues that exist."

The school board then arranged for the committee to be formed.
Work is scheduled to continue through the summer.

Roughly 10 schools are being examined out of the 17 in the district.
