Comprehensive Planning In Sun Valley
Sun Valley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Planning for the future.
That's what the City of Sun Valley is doing.
The 2013 Comprehensive Planning Steering Committee hosted a town hall meeting to gather citizens' input.
It's a 10–year planning process.
For Peter Palmedo, taking over the role as chairman of the planning committee, was his way to move the City into the future.
"This is our 10–year planning process that allows the community to provide its vision of the future of our community. This is the first step in going to a broader public to ask them what they see, want and what they care about,” said Peter Palmedo, Chairman, Planning Committee.
The town hall meeting allowed citizens' the chance to voice ideas and concerns to be included in the plan.
That plan includes everything from land use to economy to development.
"The comprehensive plan is a guideline for the use of a land for every city. It's not zoning, but a guiding principal. It’s to give an idea of what the citizens want with our open spaces and what they want to see developed,” said Mayor Dewayne Briscoe, City of Sun Valley.
The committee is in the middle of the process.
They've been meeting for the past five months.
For Palmedo and the other volunteer citizens, it’s a job that’s not over yet.
From here, a document will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission. They will consider and have public hearings on the plan and then send it to the Sun Valley City Council.
Leaders anticipate that to take around 4 to 6 months.
