Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) You've probably noticed more smoke in the sky than usual.
The Twin Falls Canal Company is busy cleaning out canals and burning brush.
If the wind and rain stay away, officials will wrap up the burns and you'll begin to see water flowing through the canals by Thursday.
"We have to burn. We have well over 500 miles of laterals, in addition to the mail canals, and the only way to control the grass and tumble weeds and everything that goes into them over the winter is to burn them. We try to burn virtually every mile other than the ones in real hazard areas every year," explains Brian Olmstead, Twin Falls Canal Company.
Canal company officials hope to release water from Murtaugh Lake next week.
