Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Workplace whiners...those folks who complain constantly...are taking their toll on companies.
According to an annual Gallup poll of over thirty–thousand employees, roughly eighteen percent of U.S. employees are actively disengaged, negative, and likely to complain about their employers.
Gallup research shows, offices with a higher rate of negativity tend to have lower productivity and a higher number of people missing work.
"It becomes a huge distraction for everybody around them because they get torn. Part, they just want to tune it out and part they want them to be quiet, and the other part may be they want to help them," said Kristi Fowler, Licensed Marriage & Family Counselor.
Some tips to fighting off complainers include, changing the subject, ask the complainer what he or she intends to do about the problem, move your desk, or you could talk with your boss.
