Delta Flights Diverted To Twin Falls From SLC

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The Salt Lake City International Airport closed this morning because of icy conditions and some flights were diverted here to Twin Falls.

In total there were four Delta airliners redirected to the Twin Falls Regional Airport.

Airport manager Bill Carberry says it's been about two years since larger airplanes have been redirected to this area.

The Delta flights were carrying an average of 75 to 100 passengers.

While the redirected flights caught the small regional airport a little off guard, Carberry says — they were happy to accommodate the more than 300 traveling passengers.

“It’s hard to prepare but from time to time we do have this happen. So it’s not completely unusual for us. Between the car rental support and restaurant, the airport and the TSA... we do what all airports do, and we try to accommodate the travelers the best we can.” Said Airport Manager, Bill Carberry.

Flights en route to Salt Lake City were also diverted to other Idaho cities including Idaho Falls, Pocatello and Boise.
