Diving Into Magic Valley Competitive Swimming

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Several high school swim teams call the YMCA Pool home, but so do the Magic Valley Marlins.

With every stroke and every dive, these swimmers are looking to achieve success.

Scott Marshan, 16, says, "I placed 7th at state in the 50 breaststroke over the summer at the state championship. I'm probably going to swim the 200 free and the 100 breaststroke at state."

The Marlins have produced some great talent in the past.

Head Coach Frank Dehoney adds, "we coached a kid a few years ago, Michael McCullough and he went to the olympic trials after he graduated college."

But the future is also looking bright. For Nathan Eisenhower, a sophomore at Kimberly High School is one to watch....This coming from a kid who never swam competitively until this past year.

Dehoney says, "Nathan was a learn to swim kid last year and he'll go to state this year in high school swimming. We have several boys and girls that will be swimming at the regional and sectional with USA Swimming."

"It's a lot of fun to just get in the water and swim around. You get to meet a lot of different people. It's a great experience overall," adds Nathan Eisenhower, Sophomore, Kimberly High School.

While swimming competitively in college most likely isn't in Luke Bryant's future, the Twin Falls Senior might play club water polo at Purdue. After all, he has plenty of experience in the pool.

Bryant says, "I made it to state swimming in high school all four years which i've been pretty happy about, I've been to Y regionals."

Teaching area children good sportsmanship and team unity...

"Marlins rock!"

Is the marlins way.
