Dogs And Cats Dropped Off At Animal Shelter When It's Closed

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Recently people have been dropping off dogs and cats at the Twin Falls Animal Shelter when nobody's there. As a result, animal shelter workers don't know who the animals belong to.

The director also says the animal shelter employees don't know the cats and dogs belong to the people who dropped them off – or if they were just found wandering around somewhere.

Shelter Director Debbie Blackwood says, "If it's your animal, better yet. Tell me what it does and doesn't like, those kinds of things. It puts the dog in peril to be left here with no representation, no way to verbalize their needs and their situation."

Blackwood says the Twin Falls Animal Shelter is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturdays from 10:00 until 2:00. There's always someone there during the lunch hour.

Blackwood says if you find an animal, you should report it to either the city or county animal control.
