Down economy prompts job fair in Burley
People gathered in Burley today for a job fair. About 12 vendors set up in a convention center room at the Best Western.
Officials say they usually hold a job fair every spring, but because the economy is so bad, they decided to hold one Wednesday.
You could find vendors such as C3 Call Center, and Wells Fargo, who were accepting applications.
An Idaho Department of Labor official says things aren't as bad in Idaho as they are in other states.
Joe Colflesh, with the Idaho Department of Labor, said, "We here in Idaho, specifically the Magic Valley, haven't been hit as hard, but we still are feeling the affects of this long term recession. We are interesting companies into coming into Idaho to invest with us, and their businesses and as a result, our environment isn't as bad as in other places."
Right now, the state unemployment sits at 9.1%.
