Downtown Twin Falls Set To Get A Facelift
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A three hundred thousand dollar price tag. That's the estimated cost to renovate part of downtown Twin Falls.
"About a year and a half ago we were approached about the possibility of being a sponsor for them at that time the splash park but now it's the downtown commons because it's a lot more than just a splash park. So we as a club decided that that was a project that we wanted to undertake," said Robert Ohlensehlen with the Twin Falls Rotary Club.
The downtown commons will include much more than just a splash park.
"About 2/3's of the way back there will be a splash pad, a little fountain splash pad for kids young and old to play in. There will be public restrooms, there will be some flowers and things like that, there will be some seating throughout it and it will be a great gathering spot," said Paul Arrington with the Twin Falls Rotary Club.
The Twin Falls Rotary Club is working with the community foundation and the city to raise the money. They are hoping to raise enough money to complete by the end of this year.
"We're doing pretty good. We've still have a pretty good chunk of money to raise. I think we've got a little over thirty thousand to raise yet. But we're closing in to about eighty thousand of funds raised,” said Ohlensehlen.
If that's happens the renovation will be done by the spring of next year.
“We'll send it out for bid early next year to the contractors and our goal is to have it constructed by early spring and ready to go," said Arrington.
The Rotary Club and City of Twin Falls are both hoping the new downtown commons area will be ready by next year's summer concert series.
