Dr. Jeff Fox Announced As CSI President
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The wait is finally over. The College of Southern Idaho has a new president.
In a crowded room, the fourth president of CSI was revealed.
CSI Board of Trustees member Karl Kleinkopf said, "I would like to move that we hire Dr. Jeff Fox," and the gathered audience erupted into applause.
Dr. Jeff Fox began his career at the College of Southern Idaho 26 years ago as an associate professor of English. Since then, he's been in the faculty senate, a department chair, a director, and most recently, the executive vice president of the college.
Dr. Thad Scholes, Chairman of the CSI Board of Trustees, says, "There was no doubt that he's well qualified. And from the reaction we got, it's obviously a very popular choice with people here at CSI."
Fox says, "I was overwhelmed by the number of people here, for one thing, and just kind of concerned. I didn't see the other candidates here, so I assumed good news was coming."
The Association of Community College Trustees conducted the national search. Fox's knowledge of the Magic Valley and it's legislators, along with his existing connections with other idaho colleges and universities, tipped the balance in his favor.
In the end, Fox beat out Dr. Daniel Bingham, CEO of Helena College – University of Montana, and Dr. Ryan Carstens, associate provost at Salt Lake Community College. Fox is confident he can lead CSI into the future.
Fox says, "I don't know exactly what the change is going to look like in any detail. But the change is coming, there's no doubt. So our best preparation is to be ready, to help invent the future for ourselves, and not let it happen to us."
Dr. Jerry Beck will officially retire at the end of December. That's most likely when Dr. Jeff Fox will be officially sworn into office.
