UPDATE: Fire Near Canyon Under Control

UPDATE: 10:00 AM - The Filer Fire Crew remains on the scene today as the fire continues to burn slowly to the west. Assistant Fire Chief Joe Baratti said that 50 to 60 acres has burned. No structures or crops have been damaged in the blaze. The fire is burning in an area that is difficult to get to. At this time it’s not known what started the fire, Baratti said. Fire Crews have the fire under control.

UPDATE: 11:11 p.m. Twin Falls County, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) We have just found out there has not been an estimated time of containment. Fire is still spreading to the east of the canyon and is not under control.

Salmon Tract, Buhl, City of Twin Falls and Filer are fighting the fire.

UPDATE 11:06 p.m. Twin Falls County, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Several fire departments along with air support were working to contain the fire.

The fire was climbing the canyon wall on the Twin Falls side of the canyon.

Witnesses told us that some homes were being threatened. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

We currently have a news crew at the scene and we'll have more information as it becomes available.

ORIGINAL STORY: Twin Falls County, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A fire has ignited in northern Twin Falls County around 7:45 p.m.

The fire started at 4300 N, 2450 E northeast of Filer.

We have a reporter headed to the scene and we'll have more information as it becomes available.
