Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV) The City of Twin Falls is in the works of revitalizing the downtown area and investors are beginning to buy historic property.

Catering by Karen a local Kimberly company recently bought the property to transform it into an event center.

"We're very excited it's a wonderful building, it has amazing character. We completely believe in the area and excited to participate” said property owner, Karen Johnson.

The more than 62-hundred square foot building will receive new lighting, a patio area, and awning.

"We have to be very careful and apply with the warehouse district. We plan to update the outside of the building. It will look much better but we can't make a lot of changes to the character,” said Johnson.

Members of the city's planning and zoning believe more business interest is coming to downtown.

"In my opinion the result of the event center might increase foot traffic from the employers who are downtown,” said Mitch Humble, City of Twin Falls.

The event center is expected to open early summer.
