Finals Week At CSI: How Are Students Taking It?

By Joey Martin

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) College students across the country are in the midst of the dreaded Finals Week.

And here at the College of Southern Idaho it's no different.

Joey martin for Idaho's first news tells us how students are coping with the stress.

"It's a necessary thing... it's a necessary part of college life... and they're getting through it and were very proud of what our students are doing."

If you have ever been on a college campus...

You know that finals week is a very stressful time.

Especially now, with the holidays knocking at the door.

"You know, you can see the stress for some of them. They've been studying very hard... they're here late at night and early in the morning. Basically any place where you can flop and find a place to study... students are doing that."
Said Doug Maughan, from the College of Southern Idaho.

So for those students taking their finals, how do they cope with the stress?

"Oh I'm very stressed... so very stressed. You know I just study a lot, I usually don't wait till the last minute.... Basically just go through the year and sure I know stuff as I go along and it's a lot easier when it come to finals."
Said CSI Sophomore, Kandi Woody.

"I try to study as much a possible and then if I start to get stressed out or start to feel like I'm getting tired ill take a break, go eat something.... Maybe take a nap... just try to get away from it for a few minutes. And then once I feel relaxed enough I can go back and finish my studying."
Said CSI Sophomore, Ashley Debie.

For those students who are taking finals for the very first time...

Here are a few tips to help maintain your sanity through the week.

"trust yourself, chances are if you've been there through the rest of the semester and you've paid attention... you've taken some notes... it's in there. You know, stressful situations can hamper your memory to some extent... but the more you can relax and breathe through it the better you can actually get through those test."
"I think you just have to get through those finals and understand there is something better on the other side."
Said Maughan.

Buckling down... Studying hard... And getting to that something better on the other side.

CSI' s finals week will continue up until Wednesday or Thursday... Depending on the class itself.

And for those students looking forward to getting a jump start on the spring semester.

That gets going on Tuesday January 22nd... Right after Martin Luther King Day.
