UPDATE 10:04 p.m. (KMVT-TV) The Thompson Creek Fire started Wednesday around 4 p.m. and could be seen from as far away as Twin Falls.

The fire has scorched 200 acres and is threatening structures just west of Magic Mountain and Thompson Creek.

Homes and cabins are a half mile away from the flames. So far, six engines, a water tender and a dozer are responding to the fire.

The Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office closed Rogerson Road, between Rock Creek Road and Deadline Road.

Deputies are advising everyone to stay away from the scene to allow quicker access to emergency crews.

"The fire behavior was actively burning in some pretty dry timber; so, additional evidence as to those extremely dry conditions," adds Heather Tiel-Nelson, Bureau of Land Management.

One huundred crews are currently working on the fire. Air support was fighting the fire earlier in the day and will continue their efforts Thursday morning as soon as light hits.

A fire investigator is on the scene, but a cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

The Bureau of Land Management and the Forest service are actively fighting the fire with Rock Creek Fire Department providing structure protection for the multiple cabins within the drainage. It’s not known how long the road will remain closed.
