Fire Prevention Week Starts With a Sizzle
Jerome, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Fire Prevention Week is kicking off Jerome.
Fireman Mike and grocery man Bob went head to head in a barbecue cook off at Ridley’s Saturday morning.
Each prepared their own St. Louis-style ribs for the competition.
The purpose is to raise money to help the fire department build a new training facility.
"Right now anytime we want to do live fire training we have to go out of the area and that's for all the departments in the area. We're wanting to have one here so that we can do our training locally and just get the experience needed to keep us safe when the real fires do happen," said Mike Harrison, Jerome Fire Department.
Firefighters will be going around to schools discussing fire safety all next week.
Then, on Saturday October 14th the department in conjunction with the Jerome Rural Fire District, will be holding a street party and pancake breakfast.
