Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) When you have an emergency like a fire, you want help to get there as soon as they possibly can. But it's impossible to get to know firefighters when they're busy doing their jobs.

The Twin Falls Police and Fire Departments, along with other first responders, will host Twin Fall's second annual "National Night Out."

Dan Heil, Crime Prevention Officer for the Twin Falls Police Department, says, "The purpose to it is to allow the community to come to a centralized location and meet all the different facets of law enforcement, really first responders. The fire department's going to be here and things like that."

There will be free hot dogs and soft drinks along with other treats and activities for the kids. The second annual "National Night Out" for Twin Falls will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night August 7th in the Twin Falls City Park.

Heil says, "You're going to get to see the SWAT team, bomb squad, we'll have our K-9 officers. We'll have our crime investigation unit, someone from our lab, and also some of our detectives here to answer any questions."

When many of us were growing up, our parents taught us to respect people like police officers and fire fighters, and sometimes all we see is the uniforms that they wear. But Heil says this "Night Out" will be a chance for all of us to meet and talk to the people who keep us safe where we live.

Heil says, "Even though we wear the uniform and we are authority figures, we enjoy being personable as well."
