Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The City of Jerome is in need of about eight new firefighters.
The fire department is made up of both full-time and volunteer members.
The City is currently recruiting volunteer members.
All required training will be provided and no experience is necessary.
Fire Chief Tom Hughes sat down with us to explain how important new firefighters are to the department...
"It's very important to us. We need to have a minimum number of firefighters before we can go inside of a house and put it out. Not a lot of people realize that. Once we get on scene, we need to have enough people there and make sure we can do it safely before we go in, so they count towards that. Once we get them trained up and ready to go. Our fires we have just had recently, they have just been integral into our suppression efforts."
If you would like more information, there will be an open house next Wednesday at 10 am and at 7 pm at Jerome City Fire Headquarters.
