Sun Valley, Idaho - ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Lightning struck the ridge behind the Sun Valley Golf Course and started a dangerous wildfire. The fire is very close to the high end White Clouds residential homes that were just recently finished. Golfers report evacuating the golf course after a safety bell went off because of lightning. Shortly after, the fire broke out on the ridge. Fire fighters were on the scene within minutes.

“I was trying to play golf and they sounded the horn because there was lightning in the area and we were sitting out behind the Sun Valley Club. Lightning struck the hill across the club and started the fire,” said Mike Halstead, a Sun Valley resident.

“There was a very quick response from both Sun Valley fire fighters and Ketchum fire fighters. The state was notified, the federal government was notified immediately. And state patrol, and they are within the smoke. I can’t see where they are,” said Dewayne Briscoe, said Sun Valley Mayor.

It was unclear through all of the smoke how much the fire was spreading across the ridge. Fortunately, the rain seemed to be helping out with fire fighting efforts.
