Hagerman, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Idaho's First Lady Lori Otter spoke to the Magic Valley Republican Women in Hagerman. This comes just one day prior to the start of the state's Republican convention, which she'll be attending. But this event was more than a tea party, it was a side of Mrs. Otter many may have never seen.

"When going into the convention, everybody has to take a deep breath, focus on the end game which is getting Barack Obama the 'expletive' out of office!" says Lori Otter, Idaho's First Lady.

Not what you usually hear from the state's First Lady. But for Lori Otter, being with the Magic Valley Republican Women is like coming home to family.

Otter adds, "it's always nice when you're preaching to the choir, you're among the party faithful, the party that elected you."

Mrs. Otter got candid with the group about being the first lady.

"Most of you know I was Miss Idaho at some, (mumbles) a few years ago, awhile back, it's kind of like being Miss Idaho for six years, eight years or whatever, we're able to get from you all. It basically means you're an ambassador for the state, wherever you go."

And expressed some humor as well.

"When you hold a state office you get to get out of the great state of Ada County."

But on a serious note, she explained what is facing our state later this year.

"The issues like the Students Come First issue in November. That will be big deal in Idaho."

And Otter's involvement in education sits well with the President of the newly formed Magic Valley Republican Women.

"I respect her interests in education and her willingness that she's had to put herself and just motive the reading programs in the state," says Billie Dinges, President of the Magic Valley Republican Women.

Besides explaining the duties as First Lady of Idaho, Otter also explained to the women she might be pursuing a graphics design degree from the College of Western Idaho in the Fall.
