Food Safety Course Taught At Senior Center

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Each month the Office on Aging requires the Twin Falls Senior Center to provide at least two educational classes a month.

These are focusing on nutrition and the center's site manager asked several different organizations to come in and conduct these courses.

Wednesday's class involved food safety, which is always a very important topic, no matter what age.

Jeanette Roe, Site Manager for Twin Falls Senior Center says, "it's trying to make sure that seniors know what they can do with their food and how to protect themselves, because a lot of them want to take food home or if they leave food out too long, making sure they know how to read labels and understand the temperatures so they don't get sick."

These classes are free and participants are encouraged to stick around and have lunch for a low cost.

Next month's class is on getting through the feasting season and how to eat healthy this holiday season.
