Football Players Go Pink For Tournament

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Over at Harmon Park, pink became the theme color for the day despite nine different football teams present.

They're all participating in the second annual breast cancer awareness football tournament.

The two–day event kicked off Saturday morning. Last year organizers held the tournament later in October, but decided because of weather, earlier in the month might fare better and participation continued to remain steady.

The quarterback for the Scallyways team found an interesting way to show his appreciation for the organization by wearing a Sherry Pie costume provided by Poindexter's Costume and Novelty Shop in Downtown Twin Falls.

"There's a lot of guys that play city league sports, basketball, football and this is our way of giving back, supporting a cause. We're out here supporting tough enough to wear pink and as you can see, pretty tough. And we're just doing our part raising money for a good cause," adds Ryan VerWey of the Scallywags.

The tournament was again held Sunday at Harmon Park.

Special thanks to Walmart, Poindexters, Donnelley Sports, Galaxy Trophy, Kiwi Loco, Jamba Juice and Masons Trophies.
