Lincoln County Planning and Zoning Administrator Ray McClure filed a defamation lawsuit against county clerk Suzanne McConnell in 2012.

It reached a private settlement, but he says that didn't stop the situation from getting worse.

McClure started out as a janitor at Lincoln County courthouse.
After a year, he became the planning and zoning administrator...
And that's where he says his problems started.

"I bid against one of the employees and won and at that point they became very critical of my work. The person I was having problems with became an elected official in 2011 and I was appointed her job and nothing ever changed and the reactions just became worse."

The workplace harassment became so bad that McClure took McConnell to court which ended with a private settlement.

McClure says his goal is to make the public aware of the issue, noting, "When I started the lawsuit my goal was to let the people know who is running Lincoln county but I was really shocked as of two weeks ago no one knew I sued the county and won."

As of Monday afternoon, McClure is no longer an employee for the county after he says he was fired.

What happens next is unknown.

Staff at the court house and county commissioners declined to comment on the situation at this time.
