Former Secretary of Navy Speaks at Armory in Ketchum
Ketchum, Idaho - ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Tonight in Ketchum, the International Women’s Forum of Idaho invited a select audience to hear a very special guest speaker.
John Lehman served for six years as Secretary of the Navy during the Reagan administration. During that time, the Navy had around six hundred ships. Today’s Navy is about half that size. Lehman also served on the 9-11 commission and is currently a member of the National Defense Commission.
Tonight’s discussion covered what Lehman referred to as the biggest threats facing the United States today. He explained those threats to be Islamist jihadism, Russia under Putin’s rule, and the rise of China.
The International Women’s Forum of Idaho, who organized the event, is generally a private affair. However, given the special nature of tonight’s lecture, they opened their doors to friends and family.
“Since one of our organization’s objectives is to promote better leadership in a changing world, this title of his talk is perfect, because it’s America’s power in today’s dysfunction, new disorder. There’s a connection to our mission and what it is he going to be speaking about,” said Elizabeth Mathieu, President of the International Women’s Forum of Idaho.
Idaho State Senator Michelle Stennett attended the packed event. The International Women’s Forum of Idaho is invitation only and has about 29 members in the state. To learn more about the organization, visit their website, http://iwforum.org/.
