Free Walking Tour of Historic District In Downtown Twin Falls

By Jeff Gomske

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The Twin Falls Historic Preservation Commission hosted a free 90-minute walking tour of the original residential district Saturday.

CSI Historian Russ Tremayne led the tour which kicked off at the Twin Falls Public Library.

They discussed early Twin Falls life as well as the variety of architectural styles used at the time.

While well-versed in history, Tremayne finds that he generally comes away from the tours learning more than he imparts.

Russ says, "I'm looking forward to learning a good bit because when I do tours, people show up that know about Twin Falls a great deal, and so I'm looking forward to learning a few new stories about some of the homes, the homes and the people who lived in the homes."

The oldest home on the tour is on Shoshone Street and was built in 1905.

Due to the wind, the start of the tour began in the basement of the library.

The tour garnered around 35 people which was more than expected.
