Getting Your Irrigation Equipment Ready For The Planting Season

Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Farmore is busy helping farmers get ready for the upcoming planting season.

"We are geared up, putting in a lot of projects and doing a lot of updates for people that want to put in systems, change things around, put in wheel lines, fix pipe, fix ditches, build ponds, move pumps, rebuild pumps," said Farmore Manager Troy Chandler.
There are several things you can do to make sure your irrigation equipment is up to par.

"If they already have irrigation equipment, they are going to want to check their sprinkler packages. Make sure that their uniformity on that is up to par. Make sure that they are getting equal coverage around their fields, off their fields. Make sure that their pivots are serviced, their gear boxes and motors and stuff like that are serviced,” said Troy Chandler.

You also want to make sure that your panel boxes are blown out because dust, dirt and bugs can collect during the off season. If you are considering installing a new irrigation system, there are some things you should think about before you make that purchase.

"They need to be thinking about making sure that the pivot will coverage the land correctly. Making sure that the water availability is there. Making sure the power is there. We do a lot of that for the farmers and dairymen if they are interested in stuff like that. We will go in and do some research and stuff like that for them," said Troy Chandler.

Yet another step to ensure your farm is ready for a new season.
