Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Glanbia broke ground Friday for a new headquarters and Cheese Innovation Center in Downtown Twin Falls.The event brought dignitaries and community members together to celebrate a momentous occassion for the area.

President and CEO Jeff Williams, Glanibia Foods says, "a lot of time and effort has gone into getting us to this day and we're excited about there's finally some noticeable construction going on."

21 years ago Glanbia invested in the Magic Valley. At the time, CEO Jeff Wlliams says Idaho ranked 11th for milk production in the country and close to that for American–style cheese production.

Williams adds, "then Glanbia came in and bought a small cheese company and subsequently invested $300 million over the last 21 years to grow that business nearly 30 fold including our joint venture plant in New Mexico."

Now Glanbia is the world's largest producer of American-style cheese.

And bringing its corporate headquarters and Cheese Innovation Center to Downtown Twin Falls.

Lt. Governor Brad Little adds, "it's great chemistry to take our oldest, one of the oldest industries in the state put them into an urban core and revitalize that urban core with real value–added jobs these are career path jobs."

"We're trying to help the heart of the city and the innovation center will bring another group of jobs down here to help find new kinds of cheese, new ways to use milk and make it more profitable for themselves and the dairy farmers," adds Twin Falls Mayor Greg Lanting.

A new location for Glanbia, a potential magnet for other businesses to come to the area.

The complex is slated to open next year.
