Gun Control A Hot Topic For Idaho Legislative Session

By Brandon Redmond

Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The Idaho Legislative Session is well under way. One of the big ticket items is gun control. Several proposals are being introduced. The main ones include protecting state police and deputies so federal agents can't require them to collect guns.

Some Idaho lawmakers also want to see legislation passed where the federal government can't regulate gun commerce in Idaho. There's also been talk of strengthening and enhancing the concealed carry law.

"I've received a lot of emails on that. People you know encouraging me to back that and I responded to all of them that yes, I do back the second amendment," said Clarke Kauffman, State Representative.

Kauffman told us the main challenge is deciding what bills to introduce since many members of the legislature are introducing bills to protect gun rights.
