Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) “All accidental shootings can be prevented. When a weapon is not in use it should be unloaded. Make sure there’s no rounds in the chamber and that it’s in a safe manner, always pointed in a safe direction,” said Lt. Daron Brown, Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office.
The Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office and Safe Kids Magic Valley are reminding people about gun safety.
As Lt. Daron Brown of the sheriff’s office explains, it’s important to keep the chamber empty and open.
The ammunition and gun should not be stored together.
And, gun locks are recommended if you have children.
Safe Kids has gun locks available to families thanks to a grant by Project Childsafe, which is a nationwide program to help ensure safe and responsible firearms ownership and storage.
The cable-style gunlocks can be used on pistols, revolvers, shotguns and rifles.
