Buhl, Idaho ( KMVT – TV / KTWT – TV ) Over 400 students over at Buhl High School spent the second half of their day on lockdown, after a reported gun scare.

At 12:30 Friday afternoon, Police agencies from the City of Buhl, ISP and Twin Falls County responded to Buhl High School and immediately began searching the building.

The incident was kicked off during lunchtime.

That’s when a staff member overheard a male students talking about a gun.

The staff member, thinking the threat was credible, immediately notified the principal.

“At that point the principal locked the school down… by policy. We came in and secured the school. Fish and Game came and they have a dog that finds weapons and guns and we ran him through the school… and found nothing. At this point the young man that made the threat is in custody for disturbing the peace.” Said Twin Falls County Sheriff Staff Sergeant, Dan Thom.

After more than a 2 ½ hour lockdown the school was back to normal by 2:50PM.

All students were then able to go home at their regular time.

Officials say Buhl recently underwent a lockdown-drill less than 3 weeks ago and were more than ready for Friday’s drama.
