Habitat For Humanity Begins Homebuilders Blitz

By KMVT News

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Habitat for Humanity in the Magic Valley is kicking off the Homebuilders Blitz.

The event is a nationwide volunteer effort to build homes for over 200 families across the country.

Contractors started work on the home on Stanley Street in Twin Falls Monday morning.

250 to 300 volunteers are expected to help out throughout the week.

The Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity explains why the Magic Valley is a perfect fit for the project.

"One year when Habitat International didn't do it they said, ‘let's go ahead and do it.’ That's the magic of this valley - they are incredible contractors and everyone has stepped up to do a fabulous job," Executive Director Linda Fleming says.

"It's a little hectic, but it's enjoyable because it’s for a good cause," general contractor John Scott Cutler adds.

Jake and Jessica Anderson will purchase the home once it's completed.

The couple worked for eight months getting the necessary 500 working hours to be able to buy the house.
