Hagerman Bird Festival Underway

By Brittany Cooper

Hagerman, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The three–day Hagerman Bird Festival is underway.

People from around the country are attending this event filled with field trips, workshops and riverboat excursions.

The mission is to celebrate the diversity of winter birds in the area featuring tens of thousands of waterfowl.

The program committee says they've had guests from as far away as Missouri make the trek to Hagerman.

"We've had to close down registration a couple weeks early because we met our max of 150 people to fill the auditorium, but the reason why this is so popular is because Hagerman Valley offers some of the best bird watching in the winter in Idaho and the surrounding states as well," adds Wallace Keck, of the program committee.

Sunday's hikes are full, but you can check out the birds in the Hagerman Wildfire Management Area. Remember to bring a camera.

You can also find the Hagerman Bird Festival on Facebook.
