When most people think of the wood river valley, they think of skiing. But local businesses want to get the word out that there are plenty of activities all year long.

"Summer is huge up here. It is very very busy with all our biking and hiking and trails that we have here," said Jackie Shafer, General Manager of the Wood River Inn.

The Wood River and tamarack inn see a decline in visitors in April, May and June. To pump up their numbers, the inn offers good deals during those quiet months.

"It's not to hot it's just very very pleasant and we do a lot of really great specials for locals, for everything at that time. We do put those on both of our websites," said Jackie Shafer of the Wood River Inn.

The chamber of commerce works with local businesses to provide incentive packages to draw visitors all year long.

"Hailey is kind of known as the family destination and there is a lot of family things. We also are a hidden secret. We are kind of like the hidden jewel that gets overlooked. In Sunset Magazine we were rated third in nation for nordic skiing," said Kristy Heitzman with the Hailey Chamber of Commerce.

To tap into the tech suave, they use social networking to promote the spring and summer months.

"We do a lot with our Facebook and our Facebook reach is on average around fifty thousand and then in the summer times and during the Nordic Festival we are climbing up to about eighty to ninety thousand people that we reach," Heitzman told us.

A community with plenty to offer no matter what the season.
