Hailey Man Arrested For Drugs After Police Find Him Asleep In Boise Intersection

Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - A person sleeping in a running vehicle at the intersection of Fairview and Curtis in Boise, early Saturday morning, has led to the arrest of a Hailey man. Boise police say they received a citizen report about 4:30 a.m. Concerned for the driver’s safety, officers responded to the location, finding Raymond L. Rutherford, 35 asleep behind the wheel. As officers made contact with the driver, they observed a hunting knife in the front seat. A search of the suspect revealed a glass pipe used to ingest drugs. A police K-9 dog alerted on the vehicle indicating that more drugs might be found. A search of the vehicle revealed a scale, packaging materials, Alprazolam prescription pills, and approximately one gram total package weight of meth. Officers also recovered a wallet with identification; check books and credit cards that officers determined had been stolen. Rutherford was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver Meth, Grand theft, possession of a stolen financial transaction card, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
